Atiku vs Buhari: CJN leads 7-member panel as legal battle begins

A seven-member panel of the Supreme Court headed by the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad has commenced hearing in the appeal filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar to challenge the election of President Muhammadu Buhari in the last presidential election held on February 23, this year.

Other justices who made the panel are Bode Rhodes-Vivour, Olukayode Ariwoola, John Okoro, Aminu Sanusi, Ejembi Eko and Uwani Abba-ji.

New On The Go reports that General Buhari won the 2019 presidential election but Alhaji Abubakar is challenging the victory handed to the former by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

At the opening of proceedings, the apex court stood down Atiku’s appeal for 15 mins to enable parties agree on whether or not to consolidate all the appeals.
