Court clerk breaks into own courtroom in Otukpo, steals electronics


A serving clerk of a Magistrate Court in Otukpo, Mr Emmanuel Unobi, has been arrested for allegedly stealing items from the court.

Unobi burgled the courtroom where he was serving as a clerk and was to disappear with electronics mounted in the court room.

He had actually unmounted the electronics but luck ran out on him while trying to move the items including a plasma TV, stabilizer, among others as he was sighted by some residents who ran after him and got him arrested.

He was subsequently charged to court and remanded in prison, but was latter granted bail earlier this week, alongside one of the Court’s security officer.

A source hinted that the security official was involved in the dirty deal.

Unobi,  it was learnt, few weeks back was also arrested by the local vigilante group in the area after he reportedly broke into a store and made away with provisions.

Just few days after his release, the accused also broke into the court where he was caught.

The clerk was reportedly demoted after the first incident before engaging himself in the recent one.
