DSS’ Arrest: S’Court judge, Justice Ngwuta breaks silence

Supreme CourtA serving justice of the Supreme Court whose house was raided on October 7, this year before he was arrested over corruption related offences, Justice Nwali Sylvester Ngwuta on Thursday opened up on his ordeals in the hands of operatives of the Department of State Service (DSS).

Nwali, in a seven page report to the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Mahmoud Mohammed, also fingered former Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi as the one behind his arrest.

He is the last of the serving judges arrested by the DSS to give his account of the incident.

Narrating why he fingered Amaechi, he said the former governor, now a minister in President Buhari’s government had visited him in his house in 2014 to request that Governor Fayose’s election was set aside by the Supreme Court with another election ordered to give his friend, Kayode Fayemi the opportunity of recontesting and win the poll.

He said he told him bluntly that he was not interested and that he would not do it
