Judges’ Arrest: SANs back NBA, say arrested judges must step down

The Body of Senior Advocates of Nigeria (BOSAN) on Saturday gave its endorsement to a controversial call by the President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Mr Mahmoud Abubakar (SAN) that serving judges whose houses were raided should proceed on compulsory leave of absence pending when they were given a clean bill of health

The august body of senior lawyers met in Lagos Saturday to deliberate on the issue and every action so far taken by the Mahmoud-led executive  before endorsing leave of absence for the affected judges.

BOSAN  backed the NBA on a day the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Mahmoud Mohammed raised the alarm that there was a rising antagonism by Nigerians against the position by the National Judicial Council (NJC) to follow due process in disciplining the affected judges.

The CJN however expressed worry over the position of NBA that the affected judges proceed on leave of absence when the outcome of the DSS investigating the judges was yet to be turned in.
