President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Dr Yemi Ogunbiyi as the chairman of the Governing Council of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile Ife.
The approval came on a day Professor Mvendega Jibo was also announced as the head the Governing Council of University of Port Harcourt.
Bar and Bench Watch reports that the councils of the two universities were sacked recently following some crises in the two schools.
To serve on the newly constituted Governing Council for OAU alongside Dr Yemi Ogunbiyi are Adekunle Sanni, Muhammed Bello Kaoje, Felix Madubuike, and Inowei Akono.
Dr Ogunbiyi was a former lecturer in the then Department of Drama and Literature of the university and a former Director of Daily Times.
He had also served as the Executive Director of the Guardian Newspaper in charge of Public Affairs and Marketing.
The former governing council headed by Rowland ndoma Egba was dissolved over the crisis that rocked the OAU over the appointment of a new Vice Chanchellor.
The Council has a four year tenure.
