How Okonkwo emerges as our guber candidate—ADP


  • As Nkwoka emerges Accord Party’s candidate
  • Fisherman’s son also emerges Green Party’s flagbearer

The Action Democratic Party (ADP), Anambra State Chapter has elected Ifeanyichukwu Okonkwo as its candidate for the November 18 governorship election in the state.

Okonkwo who polled a total of 1,062 votes of 1,072 votes cast by delegates accredited to emerge the party candidate promised to sustain the fight against corruption in Nigeria.

Presenting the party flag to Okonkwo in Awka on Friday, the ADP National Secretary and returning officer in the Governorship Primary election committee, Dr. James Okoroma said direct voting conducted in the three senatorial zones elected the governorship candidate, adding that the exercise was peaceful.

In his acceptance speech, Okonkwo said that Anambra cannot afford to go back to Egypt, and promised to centre his government crusade on anti-corruption/impunity, security, law and order, if voted in.

Also, Hon. Stanley Chigbo Nkwoka has emerged as the governorship candidate of the Accord party to contest the governorship election in the state. The Governorship primary election committee Chairman, Udo Ijere who announced the result in Awka yesterday, said Nkwoka was elected by affirmation, having scored 105 votes out of the 108 accredited delegates.

Ijere who was also the returning officer said the emergence of Nkwoka as their candidate will help to transform Anambra if they win.

According to him, the current administration has impoverished Nigerians, as he promised that the Accord party would work to improve lives of people, put food on their table and give the people a new sense of belonging.

Meanwhile, the Green Party of Nigeria (GPN) has elected a 38-year old legal practitioner, Basil Onyeachonam Onuorah, son of a fisherman, from Mmiata Anam in Anambra West council of Anambra state as its flagbearer. Also, the Independent Democrat party (ID) has elected 35-year old farmer, Franklyn Ndife, as its governorship candidate for the election.
