It sounds like tales by the moonlight, yet it is true.
A middle-aged trader, Mr Uchena Elumadu is presently in the custody of police in Lagos for serially raping his own 15-year old daughter (names withheld), in the middle of the night, while his wife was on night duty in one of the unnamed outfits attached to the airport.
Elumadu who had turned his daughter to his unofficial ‘second wife’ had not only confessed to the crime but also disclosed that he was giving her daughter pills to take to prevent pregnancy.
The daughter, a JSS 3 student told the police that her father enjoyed her so much that even when her mother was off-duty, his father would still ravish her, few metres away from her sleeping mother.
She disclosed that they were caught one night in the act and that the alarm raised by her mother was what exposed the dirty act.
She said she was not comfortable with the development but that the situation was a difficult one to expose, her lover being her father.
But Elumadu had denied sleeping with the daughter on countless occasions. He said contrary to claims, he could remember the incident took place only three times.
He is still assisting men of the Lagos State Police Command investigating the case with information on how he did it on the occasions and why.
The spokesperson of the state Police Command, SP Dolapo Badmos, confirmed the arrest of Elumadu on Saturday.
Badmos who shed light on how the bubble burst said that the Gender Unit of the command was investigating the suspect, Uchena Elumadu on the defilement case.
She said that a neighbour, who resides at Martins Street, new Oko Oba, Agege Lagos, reported the case to the police.
She confirmed that preliminary investigation had revealed that the suspect had on different occasions, raped the JSS 3 student who is his daughter.
The police image maker said that Elumadu usually administered drugs to prevent his victim from getting pregnant after having intercourse with her.
“The victim said that her father, on countless occasions, wakes her up in the middle of the night to rape her, mostly when her mother is on night duty.
“The mother is a casual worker in one of the outfits attached to airport.
“On the night of September 19, the mother discovered the suspect having intercourse with the victim and raised the alarm and one of their neighbours reported the case to the police,” Badmos said.
She said the victim had been admitted at the Police Cottage Hospital, Ikeja Police College, where she is receiving treatment in partnership with Mirabel Centre LASUTH.
The spokesperson said that medical examination was being carried out on the victim.
Badmos said the Commissioner of Police, CP Fatai Owoseni, had directed that the father, who admitted raping his daughter on three occasions be charged to court.
“The commissioner has vowed that the command will no longer tolerate cases relating to domestic and sexual abuse in the state,” she said.
