The heat directed by sacked Chairman of House Committee on Appropriations, Hon. Abdulmumin Jibrin channelled towards the leadership of the House of Representatives on Wednesday boomeranged as the House on Wednesday summoned Jibrin to appear before House Committee on Ethics to defend his allegation of budget padding against its leadership.
But Jibrin who had earlier raised the alarm on the alleged plot by Yakubu Dogara-led House of Representatives to suspend him for allegedly daring to attack them on Wednesday vowed never to appear before the House Committee on Ethics to defend his allegation .
He alleged that the House was only working to the answer.
In a statement he issued on Wednesday and made available to newsmen in Abuja, Jibrin explained that he never denigrated the entire House as portrayed by those loyal to Dogara during Wednesday’s plenary.
“I want to make myself very clear on this matter that it was not the entire House I christened being corrupt, but the Speaker and four principal officers”, the statement noted.
He said Dogara and members involved in padding decided to make his allegation against them look as if it was the entire House he was talking about.
Jibrin further appealed to his colleagues to ignore such diversionary tactics.
Meanwhile, a member loyal to Abdulmumin camp who spoke on the issue, Hon. Mohammed Musa Soba, stressed that the Committee on Ethics might have predetermined Jubrin’s suspension and would not be a surprise if it turned out to be so.
He confirmed to our correspondent that Jibrin “was not alone in this battle”, noting that they were resolved to see to the end of the matter, “even if it means going to the executive arm to block execution of projects these few people persons cornered for themselves.”
