The Supreme Court, on Friday, said it had dropped the name of one Oluwatoyin Ajoke Bashorun from the list of successful senior lawyers awaiting decoration with the prestigious rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN).

Bashorun was the only female lawyer who made the final list of senior lawyers cleared for the conferment of the prestigious title.

The swearing in ceremony holds on Monday, September 18, this year.

In a statement by the Supreme Court on Friday and signed by its Chief Registrar, Hadizatu Mustapha, a serious petition capable of soiling the integrity of Bashorun if proven and that of the inner bar is awaiting investigation.

The petition, it was learnt, surfaced after the woman’s name was cleared by the LPPC for decoration with SAN title.

The statement said that following an emergency meeting held on September 15, 2017 by the LPPC over the matter, it decided to drop her name pending further investigation against her by a special committee to be set up by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen.

This is not the first time the LPPC headed by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Onnoghen would be dropping name of successful lawyer awaiting decoration.
