Alleged False Testimony: I have no intention to embarrass lawyer Veronica—Pastor Enenche

Dunamis International Gospel Centre, otherwise known as Dunamis Church, on Monday, said its Senior Pastor, Dr Paul Enenche had no intention to embarrass a church member, Mrs Veronica Anyim, whose testimony he shot down as false.

The church, in a statement issued on the matter said it regretted “every inconvenience, hurt or embarrassment this unfortunate scenario has caused Ms Anyim Veronica Nnenna,” having ascertained the veracity of her claim.

In a recent incident during a church testimony, Pastor Paul Enenche appeared not to believe the testimony of Mrs Anyim perhaps because of her poor communication skills and her claim to have been awarded B.SC in Law.

The Pastor had openly said the testimony was fake and asked the woman to walk off the pulpit, warning her likes to learn from the way Mrs Anyim was treated.

But after the church realized that the testimony was actually true, the Pastor sent for Mrs Anyim and reunited with her.

In the statement issued, the church specifically said: “We remain committed to her physical welfare and her spiritual growth.”

The Church reiterated that there was no intention by Enenche to embarrass the said lady, attributing the negative outcome to media frenzy.

The statement, signed on behalf of the cleric and Dunamis Church by Sylvester Edoh, Personal Assistant and Secretary, justified the position of the Pastor, whom he said had since reached out to the female member.

It said Enenche’s action was based on his reading of her poor quality of English language, which was clearly below what was expected of a Law graduate, thus casting doubts on her testimony.

Meanwhile, the Congress of National Open University of Nigerian Students (CONS) has demanded an immediate public apology from Pastor Paul Enenche for the insulting remarks made towards the Law graduate from NOUN, Mrs Anyim Veronica Nnena, who happens to be a member of his church.

In a statement, the students said: “We consider the behavior of Pastor Paul as an attempt to strip Mrs Veronica all human dignity, lacking in emotional intelligence and a conduct that should not be found within the house of God.

“The Congress of NOUN Students (CONS) unequivocally condemned such disrespectful remarks, which undermine the hard work and dedication of Mrs Veronica and by extension, The National Open University of Nigeria.

“Nobody is above mistake and no one should be dehumanized just because of their minor error.

“We therefore call upon Pastor Paul Enenche to issue a public apology to Mrs Veronica within the next 42hrs, acknowledging the harm caused by his words and expressing remorse for the offense inflicted upon the NOUN graduate and the entire NOUN community.
