The Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) has announced that Anambra Governor, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo CFR, has accepted to serve as its Chief Guest Speaker at the 2024 Annual Lecture scheduled to hold on July 25th 2024 in Abuja.
In a statement, HURIWA said the state governor conveyed its acceptance to grace the occasion by a letter.
In the letter, HURIWA said Governor Soludo commended its unwavering commitment to defending human rights and amplifying the voices of the marginalized and oppressed.
He expressed his readiness to contribute to the all-important discourse on the nexus between political leadership and human rights.
“Governor Soludo’s participation underscores his dedication to advancing human rights and social justice in Anambra State and beyond.
“His presence will lend credence to the importance of the theme, “Any Nexus Between Political Leadership and Human Rights,” and provide invaluable insights from a seasoned leader.
“His presence will attract wider attention and participation from stakeholders, policymakers, and the general public.
Governor Soludo’s discussion will shed light on policy implementation and avenues for fostering a rights-based approach to governance, his speech is expected to inspire and engage participants, encouraging them to take proactive steps towards promoting and protecting human rights in their communities,” the statement said.
The event promises to be enlightening and empowering, highlighting the crucial role of political leadership in upholding human rights and fostering inclusive societies.
Other prominent speakers include Senator Ned Nwoko who verbally accepted our invitation during a courtesy visit to his office at the Senate office Wing of the National Assembly in Abuja.
Ministers, politicians, Students of tertiary institutions, secondary and primary schools will be in attendance.
