Nigeria’s former Chief of Defence Staff, Admiral Ibrahim Ogohi (retd), is dead.
The Director of Defence Information, Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, confirmed the death of the Admiral in a terse statement.
According to Gusau, Ogohi, who was the CDS between 1999 and 2003 during the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, died in the early hours of Sunday.
He was said to have passed on in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
Gusau said in the statement: “With deep sorrow, I announce the death of Admiral Ibrahim Ogohi (rtd), a former Chief of Defence Staff (1999-2003).
“He passed on in Abuja in the early hours of today.
“More details will be communicated later.”
Ogohi enrolled in Nigeria Defence Academy in 1967.
The member of the Regular Course 4 passed out in 1970 and did a Midshipman course in the United Kingdom in 1971 and technical course India in 1972, had an underwater Warfare Course India in 1976 and attended the United States Naval War College Course in 1980 and in 1992.
