Iran has reportedly launched six missiles toward U.S. bases in Qatar, in what appears to be in fulfilment of its vow to attack US bases and military personnel in the Middle East.
It would be recalled that the US on Sunday attacked three nuclear sites in Iran, prompting Teran to issue a statement saying the attack would have ‘everlasting consequences’.
The US and UK embassies in Qatar had earlier released statements recommending citizens in Qatar to shelter in place until further notice, REUTERS reports.
Qatar said it shut down its airspace temporarily as part of the measures taken to ensure the safety of residents and visitors.
Flares were seen over Doha as missile defence systems of al-Udeid air base were apparently seen launching into the sky.
Loud explosions were heard all around the capital.
Meanwhile, Iran’s Revolutionary Guards confirmed the attack on al-Udeid base.
