BREAKING: Police unseal Rivers LGA secretariats

0

Hours after the swearing in of the 23 elected local council chairmen, the Nigeria Police Force has unsealed all Local Government Area (LGA) secretariats.

The development followed the directive by the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, and communicated by the newly appointed Rivers State Commissioner of Police, CP Bala Mustapha.

Already, the police authorities have withdrawn all the police personnel previously deployed to the secretariats to secure them.

According to the IGP’s directive, police personnel would only return to the LGAs in the event of a crisis or any breakdown of law and order, at which point swift measures would be taken to restore calm.

The Rivers State Police Command, through its spokesperson, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, assured the public of its continued commitment to upholding peace and security across the state.

The Command urged residents to remain calm and law-abiding as the situation unfolds.

The unsealing of the secretariats is expected to support the smooth administration of local government functions amidst ongoing political activities in the state.
