Court orders arrest of alleged fake PFIPC DG Adeyemi

The Federal High Court in Abuja has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of a self-styled public administrator and investment promoter, Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi accused of operating a fictitious Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC).

Justice Mohammed Umar issued the order on Tuesday after Adeyemi failed to appear for arraignment on an eight-count charge bordering on conspiracy, forgery and impersonation.

The trial judge directed security agencies to arrest Adeyemi wherever he is found and produce him before the court.

The order followed an oral application by police counsel, Wisdom Madaki, after the case, marked FHC/ABJ/CR/562/2025, was called and none of the defendants appeared in court.

Adeyemi’s counsel, Genesis Francis, told the court that his client feared for his life and had written to President Bola Tinubu. In response, Justice Umar said the court would “help him to stay alive” and ordered security agencies to arrest him wherever he is sighted.

The case was adjourned until September 30, 2026.

Adeyemi was first arrested on October 27, 2025, at an office in the Federal Secretariat, Abuja, following a petition by the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, to the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigeria Police over alleged forged presidential documents.

According to the Presidency, investigators recovered suspected fake appointment letters, official letterheads and evidence of 34 bank accounts, including nine allegedly opened in the names of non-existent government agencies.

The controversy gained renewed attention after an entity bearing a similar name appeared in the 2026 Appropriation Act with a budgetary allocation of ₦1.3 billion.

President Bola Tinubu subsequently directed the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) on July 7, 2026, to investigate the matter.

The police filed the charges against Adeyemi on November 27, 2025.

Witnesses listed in the case include Gbajabiamila, officials of the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation and other persons allegedly linked to the operation of the fake agency.

As of press time, there was no official confirmation that Adeyemi had been re-arrested in compliance with the bench warrant issued by the court.
