Defence minister denies resignation rumours

The Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (Rtd), has dismissed reports circulating on social media alleging that he plans to resign from office.

The minister’s media aide, Ms. Leah Katung Babatunde, described the reports as false and malicious in a statement issued on Monday.

According to the statement, the rumour was entirely fabricated and intended to mislead the public.

It stated that General Musa remains fully committed to his responsibilities as Minister of Defence and is focused on implementing the Federal Government’s national security strategy.

The statement added that the minister continues to discharge his duties diligently, noting that positive results are already being recorded in the country’s security efforts.

It urged members of the public to disregard the reports and advised media organisations and social media users to verify information before publishing or sharing it.

The minister’s office also encouraged the public to seek clarification from appropriate official sources whenever in doubt.
