President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of 26 persons into the boards and management of 10 Federal Government agencies and commissions.
Among the appointments, former Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Ayo Fayose, was named Chairman of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), while Major General Junaid Bindawa was appointed Chairman of the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission.
According to a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, Fayose will head the board of the Rural Electrification Agency alongside Alhaji Ahmadu Abubakar and Engineer Ilyasu Ibrahim Makinta as members and non-executive directors.
The statement added that the agency’s Director-General, Abba Abubakar Aliyu, and its three previously appointed executive directors will complete the board.
For the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission, President Tinubu also appointed former member of the House of Representatives, Mrs. Olajumoke Okoya-Thomas, as Secretary of the Commission.
Other members of the commission are Dr. Ogbole Ene Lilian (Benue), Oladele Olatubosun (Oyo), Yakubu Umar Barde (Kaduna), Dr. Mai Adamu Yau (Borno), Ginika Florence Tor (Enugu), Engineer Lawrence Okoh (Edo) and Bello Morenike Iyabode (Kogi).
The President also appointed Tosin Johnson Adeyanju, formerly Executive Secretary of the National Lottery Trust Fund (NLTF), as Secretary of the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission.
Other appointments include Dr. Abuh Mohammed as Director-General of the National Population Commission; Dr. Akinola Odeyemi as Managing Director of the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading (NBET); and Dr. Anthony Inalegwu Godwin as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission.
Engineer Julius Oloro was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the National Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation (NCAM), Ilorin, replacing Dr. A.R. Kamal, who died in January.
President Tinubu also constituted the board of the Fiscal Responsibility Commission, appointing Dr. Abdullahi Maikano Saidu as Chairman. Other members are Mohammed Asmau, Mohammed Aliyu Makama, Dr. Suleiman Gidado, Louis O. Ndukwe, Amaechi Ugwele and Olaniyi Idowu Onikola.
In addition, Shuni Muhammad Dahiru was appointed Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education, replacing Professor Shu’aibu Shehu Aliyu, who was reassigned to the Petroleum Trust Development Fund (PTDF) in April.
The President also appointed Gisaor Vincent Iorja as Executive Director (Finance) of the Federal Housing Authority (FHA), replacing Mathias Byuan, who resigned to contest the Benue State governorship election.
Iorja is an economist, legal scholar and academic who currently serves as Secretary of the Benue State Independent Electoral Commission (BSIEC).
According to the Presidency, all the appointments take immediate effect.
