Senate President Godswill Akpabio has commended President Bola Tinubu for what he described as bold reforms and strategic leadership as the administration marks its third anniversary in office.
In a congratulatory message personally signed on Thursday, May 29, 2026, Akpabio said the Renewed Hope Agenda had laid a strong foundation for Nigeria’s growth and development. He praised the President for taking difficult but necessary decisions in the national interest despite prevailing global economic challenges.
According to the Senate President, the removal of fuel subsidy, the unification of foreign exchange rates, and continued investment in infrastructure demonstrate Tinubu’s commitment to long-term national prosperity.
“The courage to remove fuel subsidy, unify exchange rates, and drive infrastructure despite global headwinds shows a President committed to long-term prosperity over short-term comfort,” Akpabio said.
He highlighted key projects and programmes of the administration, including the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, the Nigerian Student Loan Scheme, the Renewed Hope Housing Programme, the nationwide rollout of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses and conversion centres, ongoing tax reforms, and the completion of the OB3 gas pipeline, which delivers two billion standard cubic feet of gas daily into the national grid.
Akpabio said these initiatives are helping to reposition the country and drive economic growth.
He also assured the President of the continued support of the 10th Senate, describing the upper legislative chamber as a committed partner in enacting laws that will sustain the administration’s achievements and secure Nigeria’s future.
“Mr President, your courage to take difficult but necessary decisions in the national interest is already yielding results Nigerians can see and feel. The 10th Senate remains a committed partner in enacting laws that will sustain these gains and secure the future we all desire,” he stated.
The Senate President prayed for wisdom, strength, and good health for Tinubu and wished him a successful completion of his tenure as well as victory in future elections.
Tinubu’s third anniversary in office comes amid continuing debates over the impact of fuel subsidy removal, foreign exchange unification, and inflation on Nigerian households.
Akpabio’s endorsement underscores the Senate’s support for the administration’s agenda as it enters the second half of its tenure ahead of the 2027 elections.
The positions were contained in a press statement signed by Akpabio’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Hon. Eseme Eyiboh.
