NNPC, NLNG, Customs, Dangote, Others Back GOCOP 2026 Conference
The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC), Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG), Nigeria Customs Service and Dangote Group are among organisations supporting the 10th annual conference of the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP) scheduled for Lagos.
GOCOP Publicity Secretary, Ms Kemi Yesufu, disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday in Abuja.
Other public-sector partners include the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Bank of Industry (BoI), National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
Private-sector organisations supporting the conference are TAJBank, Emadeb Energy, Setraco Limited, Sovereign Trust Insurance and Nestlé Nigeria Plc.
The conference is scheduled to hold at 10 a.m. on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at the Radisson Blu Hotel, 38–40 Isaac John Street, Ikeja GRA, Lagos.
The theme of the conference is “2027 Elections: Trust, Transparency and Shared Responsibilities.”
Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Joash Ojo Amupitan, SAN, is expected to deliver the keynote address, while Founding Partner of Olisa Agbakoba Legal (OAL) and former President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Dr Olisa Agbakoba, SAN, will chair the conference.
The panel will feature CP Abayomi Shogunle, Commissioner of Police, Election Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation, Force Headquarters, Abuja; Prof. Tayo Popoola, Head of the Department of Mass Communication, University of Lagos; Adaora Onyechere Sydney-Jack, Creative Director of Gender Agenda and Founder of WEWE Network Afrique; and Lanre Arogundade, Executive Director of the International Press Centre.
GOCOP Deputy President and Chairman of the Conference Planning Committee, Olumide Iyanda, expressed appreciation to the organisations supporting the event.
“We sincerely appreciate our sponsors and partners for their confidence in GOCOP and for recognising the importance of supporting credible conversations around Nigeria’s media industry, democracy and national development. Their contributions are an important part of making this year’s conference possible,” he said.
Iyanda said the support from organisations in the public and private sectors would contribute to the successful hosting of the conference as the Guild marks the 10th edition of its annual event.
According to him, the conference will examine the responsibilities of electoral institutions, political actors, security agencies, the media, civil society and citizens in strengthening public confidence in Nigeria’s electoral process ahead of the 2027 general elections.
GOCOP is a business membership organisation comprising 127 online publications in Nigeria. Its members are media entrepreneurs who own and operate digital publishing businesses across the country.
The Guild promotes ethical and professional standards in online publishing as well as the collective interests of its members, while working to strengthen the sustainability and credibility of digital journalism in Nigeria.
