We’ve documents to prove Dangote Refinery sold petrol at N898 per litre—NNPC

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited said on Sunday night that it stood by its earlier disclosure that Dangote Refinery Petrol was sold to them at N898 per litre.

NNPC Ltd.’s spokesperson, Mr Olufemi Soneye, spoke to the fact of the matter after Dangote Refinery issued a statement rebutting the disclosed price and dismissing the same as mischievous and misleading.

Dangote Group, in a statement by its spokesperson, Anthony Chiejina, on Sunday, did not, however, disclose the price at which they sold to NNPC Ltd, indicating the Refinery did not want to come out clean on the pricing issue.

When NNPC Ltd.’s spokesperson, Mr Soneye, was contacted on the issue, he responded thus: “We stand by our earlier stand that Dangote Refinery Petrol is sold to us at N898 per litre.

“We have documents to back our claim.

“If the price isn’t ₦898, then what is it?

“We would be happy to receive a discount.

“Throughout the day, various figures have been circulating—some claiming ₦1,300, The Punch reported around ₦767, and another outlet mentioned ₦500. It’s our responsibility to clarify the facts.

“The truth is, the government is not setting fuel prices, nor is NNPC Ltd. It’s a deregulated market where prices are determined by market forces,” he added.
