Osun 2026: Adeleke on course for victory as INEC results give him 83,178-vote lead

The governorship candidate of the Accord Party, Governor Ademola Adeleke, is on course for victory in Saturday’s Osun State governorship election, according to results released so far by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Results from the state’s 30 local government areas announced by INEC showed Adeleke leading his closest rival, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), by more than 80,000 votes.

Results available on INEC’s Result Viewing Portal (IReV) showed that Adeleke was ahead in 21 of the 30 local government areas, while Oyebamiji led in nine.

According to Arise News, as of 2:06 a.m. on Sunday, INEC had uploaded results from 3,612 of the state’s 3,763 polling units, representing 95.99 per cent of the polling units.

With results from 151 polling units yet to be uploaded, Adeleke had secured 509,057 votes, representing 51.7 per cent of the votes available on IReV.

Oyebamiji had polled 425,879 votes, representing 43.2 per cent, giving Adeleke a lead of 83,178 votes at that stage of the collation.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate, Najeem Salaam, was a distant third with 17,393 votes, representing 1.8 per cent.

The figures remained provisional, however, pending the completion of the collation process and the formal declaration of the winner by INEC.

The Osun governorship election was held on Saturday, August 15, 2026, across the state’s 30 local government areas. Adeleke, who is seeking a second term, contested on the platform of the Accord Party, while Oyebamiji represented the APC and Salaam contested for the ADC.
