ASUU official escapes from kidnappers in Edo
The Benin Zonal Coordinator of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Prof. Monday Igbafe, has escaped from the captivity of kidnappers in Edo State.

Reports said that Igbafen, who is a lecturer at the Ambrose Alli University (AAU) in Ekpoma, Edo State, was on Saturday night ambushed at the entrance of his residence in the community by some gunmen suspected to be kidnappers.
The gunmen were said to have hijacked his Toyota Highlander and whisked him away to an unknown destination.
The kidnappers reportedly gave up on the ASUU official due to the pressure from the bush combing by the operatives of the Ekpoma Police Division in Edo State.
The Edo State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Moses Yamu, confirmed the escape of the don from the kidnappers’ den.
Yamu said: “The command is aware of the report. Operatives of the Ekpoma Division mounted pressure on the kidnappers, which led to the escape of the victim.
“We are on the trail of the suspects to ensure that they are brought to book.”
