BREAKING: Veteran actor Taiwo Hassan ‘Ogogo’ burial plans released

The burial arrangements for veteran Nollywood actor, Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, have been released following his death on Sunday.

Veteran actor Jide Kosoko announced the burial arrangements in a statement shared on his Instagram page on Sunday.

Hassan, aged 66, reportedly died at about 3 p.m. on Sunday after battling stage-four cancer. His death came days after his daughters disclosed his deteriorating condition and appealed for urgent medical intervention.

According to the burial arrangements announced by Kosoko, the actor’s remains will be taken to his hometown, Ilaro, Ogun State, on Sunday, where a lying-in-state ceremony will be held on Monday.

The ceremony is scheduled as follows:
Date: Monday, August 24, 2026
Time: 11:00 a.m.

Venue: Pavillon, Ilaro, Ogun State.

In his statement, Kosoko said:

“With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we announce the passing of Alhaji Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, who passed away at 3:00 p.m. today, Sunday, 23rd August 2026, at 66 years.”

He added that Hassan’s remains would be taken to Ilaro on Sunday for the lying-in-state ceremony the following day.

Kosoko also prayed for the repose of the actor’s soul and for God to give his family, friends, colleagues and other loved ones the strength to bear the loss.

Meanwhile, the Ilaro Muslim Community has announced that the funeral prayer for the late actor will hold at 10:00 a.m. at the Asade Agunloye Pavilion Ground in Ilaro.

Ogogo was one of the prominent figures in Yoruba-language cinema, with a career spanning several decades.

His death has continued to generate tributes from colleagues, fans and other stakeholders in the Nigerian entertainment industry.
