Protest: Police arrest Spanish foreign sponsors

Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force have arrested six Spanish allegedly sponsoring the ongoing nationwide protest in Nigeria.

The Commissioner, Kano State Police Command, CP Salman Garba, confirmed this to Vanguard News on Tuesday.

Garba, who spoke with Vanguard News in an interview, said the command also arrested 76 others, including the tailor sewing Russian flags.

He said: “We have arrested six Spanish nationals and 76 others, including the tailor.

“They have been transferred to Force Headquarters because it has to do with sedition and national security.”

The Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, confirmed the development in Abuja at a news briefing by heads of security agencies, convened by the Chief of Defence State, General Christopher Musa.

At the briefing on Tuesday, Egbetokun equally said that the police and military did not use live ammunition against protesters involved in the protest that commenced on August 1, 2024.
